What is CCTV?
A CCTV in plumbing is used for a plumber to report/survey on a drainage system. This is done to closely examine the drains using a remote CCTV Drain camera. The camera will record the footage and the data required for the reporting. CCTV drain cameras are the only tool that can inspect underground systems.
This will include:
- Drains
- Sewers
- Boreholes
- Rainwater downpipes
- Storage tanks
- Ducting Systems
- Industrial process pipes
Most Builders will request a CCTV inspection for various reasons example:
- Poor flow of drainage systems
- Blocked drainage systems
- To show the condition of the drain
- In areas where the building has been built on the corrosive ground
- Pollution
- To plan a preventative program
- To gather data
Water Jetting
Water jetting is always carried out in conjunction with a CCTV drain camera inspection. This is not recommended because the Plumber wants to make more money but because it is vital to remove the debris in the pipe. There is often silt, stones, tree roots, fats and oils and grease in Pipes. (FOG)
CCTV surveys are often carried out in conjunction with the cleaning of pipes using high-pressure water jetting, delivered by a jet vac tanker.
